IRISH WORKSHOPS

To celebrate St.Patrick’s Day a group of students from our school took part in workshops organized by European Educational Programme “Learning Without Borders”. Simeon Wren, a great British actor and teacher took us to an exceptional, mysterious, warm and beautiful Irish world by telling interesting (and a bit scary!) stories, playing some Irish folk music for us, showing photos of Ireland (especially charming villages and green fields), and videos from traditional Irish pubs. The whole presentation was really interesting and well made, everybody was listening and watching with bated breath.

After the presentation and short break there was time to move our bodies! We practised ceilidh dancing. Ceilidh is the name of a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing. The pronunciation of the word is /keili/ Mr. Wren prepared a few short, nice and not difficult arrangements in which our students participated of course! Dancing to amazing Irish music was a lot of fun, we felt almost like real residents of an Irish hamlet and it made us smile for the rest of the day.
